Shipping policy

When you place your order online, you will receive a confirmation email.

Orders are processed and shipped by our knowledgeable staff here at the store as quickly as possible. Processing time can vary, but it is usually within 2 to 4 days (excluding general holidays) for both curbside/in-store pickup as well as mail orders. Orders for curbside/in-store pickups do not receive priority fulfillment over mail orders.

Watch for our order fulfillment and shipping email, confirming the shipping details, date, price, and grand total as it will be sent once the order has been processed.

Should you choose pickup instead of shipping, watch for an email stating "Your order is ready for pickup".  You may then come to the store for curbside/in-store pickup.  Please do not come to the store until you have received this email.

We want to fulfill the order to your satisfaction and ensure you are aware of any stock issues. Therefore, we ask that you please answer your phone or watch your emails in case we have any questions/concerns about the order. Delays in communication with us will only delay the shipping of your order.

GENERAL PRODUCT SHIPPING RATES AND INFORMATION  

(Exceptions and Further Information follow.  Click here for SewEzi Table shipping rates, which do not qualify for free shipping.)

We ship using Canada Post for the majority of orders. Canada Post is easily as reliable as courier services, and for most packages it is the least expensive. However, if you desire courier delivery, please let us know in the Orders Instructions box when you proceed to Checkout. We will then provide you with the dimensions and weight of the package, and you may personally arrange and pay for it. In this instance, we will remove the charge for shipping on your order, and you will pay the courier company directly.

NOTE: Rates are based on merchandise totals before tax and shipping.

Canada Rates:

FREE* shipping for single orders of $225 and over (see Other Product Shipping Exceptions below)

    • Available for single orders only - where all items are shipping together - and the items total $225 and more. Cannot be used if original order was comprised of both in-stock items and pre-order/out-of-stock items unless the entire order is held for the pre-order/out-of-stock items to arrive and everything is shipped together.  
    • Tracking and insurance of $100 is provided. If additional insurance is desired, please select the option to purchase additional insurance as you checkout. (Currently additional insurance is $2.75/$100 of coverage, plus a $2 signature fee).
    • Does not apply to Physical Gift Cards or Bargain Basement items.
    • *ACQ will cover the first $20 of the shipping cost. Should actual shipping be higher, we will contact you with an additional payment request to cover the costs.  
    • Shipping to remote locations, P.O. Boxes, and orders comprising of extremely bulky, heavy, or oversize items may incur additional shipping costs. In these circumstances, we will contact you with an additional payment request for extra shipping charges.

Regional Charges apply for orders up to $224.99

    • Alberta:  $16.99
      British Columbia, Saskatchewan, & Manitoba:  $19.99
      All Other Provinces & Territories:  $22.99
    • Tracking and insurance of $100 is provided. If your order is more than $100 and additional insurance is desired, please select the option to purchase additional insurance as you checkout. (Currently additional insurance is $2.75/$100 of coverage, plus a $2 signature fee).
    • Should the regional rates applied not cover the actual shipping fees, we will contact you with an additional payment request to cover the costs.  
    • Shipping to remote locations and orders comprising of extremely bulky, heavy, or oversize items may incur additional shipping costs. In these circumstances, we will contact you with an additional payment request for extra shipping charges.

Regarding Letter Mail Rates

    • We have discontinued letter mail shipping as an automated option available at checkout for the following reasons:
      * Many items we sell do not fit through a letter mail slot - particularly thread.
      * Many customers use PayPal as a payment option.  PayPal transactions require tracking of parcels for proper protection as a seller.
    • Should you want your order to be considered for letter mail shipping, you must indicate so in the Orders Instructions when viewing your cart (click the pull-down arrow to add - see picture below).  Don't forget to click the Save button.  When you provide payment, please do not pay through PayPal.  If you pay with PayPal, we will contact you for an alternate payment method.

    • Our flat charge for letter mail is $8.99.  You will be reimbursed the difference between this rate and the parcel rate charged when the order was placed.
    • Letter mail packages are non-insured and non-trackable. While this is a very reliable service, we cannot track it or obtain compensation for you if in the extremely rare event the item happens to not arrive or is damaged. Usually, this service is very swift, but on very rare occurrences, it can take a month or more. Once it has been mailed, it is out of our hands, and we are not responsible for replacement or refund. If you opt for this method of shipment, you assume and acknowledge the risk is yours alone.
    • Only orders that fit within Canada Post's dimensions for letter mail can be sent using this option (under 500 gm and not measuring more than 38 x 27 x 2 cm.  To picture this size, think of a mail slot; 2 cm is only .75 inches.  Some examples of items that can often be sent letter mail:
      • One to five standard patterns (9” X 6”)
      • Two small MSQC templates
      • .5 meters of printed cotton and one pattern
      • .25 – 2.5 meters of printed cotton
      • 3 standard-size panels
    • Note that we will not send any order with a total merchandise value over $29.99 as letter mail, as the loss or delay of a high value package equals an extremely disappointed customer.

USA Rates (note all prices are in Canadian $):

Please note, that we no longer ship orders to the U.S. where the items total less than $30. We have made this decision due to the labour cost to process the order, cost of packaging, and the credit card/payment processing fees.

Note:

  • All charges from our store are in Canadian dollars. Exchange to US dollars is handled by your credit card/payment processor. For an idea of exchange rates, please refer to a website such as https://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/.
  • We do not charge any tax on your order.
  • You are generally allowed up to $800US duty and state-tax free.
  • Your order will pass through customs.
  • Orders can take 2-3 weeks to receive.

Shipping Charges:

$25 for orders up to and including $99.99

    • Tracking and insurance is provided for lost, stolen, or damaged parcels.
    • Shipping to remote locations and orders comprising of extremely bulky, heavy, or oversize items may incur additional shipping costs. In these circumstances, we will contact you with an additional payment request for extra shipping charges.

$32 for orders of $100 - $199.99

    • Tracking and insurance up to $200 is provided for lost, stolen, or damaged parcels.
    • Shipping to remote locations and orders comprising of extremely bulky, heavy, or oversize items may incur additional shipping costs. In these circumstances, we will contact you with an additional payment request for extra shipping charges.

$40 for orders of $200 - $299.99

    • Tracking and insurance up to $300 is provided for lost, stolen, or damaged parcels.
    • Shipping to remote locations and orders comprising of extremely bulky, heavy, or oversize items may incur additional shipping costs. In these circumstances, we will contact you with an additional payment request for extra shipping charges.

Orders of $300 and over

    • We will determine shipping costs and contact you for payment.

International Rates

Please note, that we no longer ship orders internationally where the items total less than $30. We have made this decision due to the labour cost to process the order, cost of packaging, and the credit card/payment processing fees.

 We will be in touch via email with your shipping options. When you have decided on the method you would like, we will send you a payment request for shipping.

Packages will only be sent with tracking and insurance.  As well, we will not ship surface as parcels sent this method can take 3-4 months to arrive.

You are responsible for any duty and taxes imposed by your country on the receipt of your order. If you have questions on possible duty/taxation, we suggest you contact your country’s authorities on this matter.

 SewEzi Products

SewEzi Tables and products to be shipped with them follow a separate shipping rate structure due to the weight and size of the tables.  Click here to view the SewEzi Table Shipping page. 

If you order SewEzi Accessories on their own, without the purchase of a table, our regular shipping fee structure applies as outlined on this page.

Other Product Shipping Exceptions

Free Shipping does not apply to In-Store Shopping Physical Gift Cards. 

Bargain Basement items are often sold below cost/stock replacement cost.  Therefore, if you place an order comprised of these items, we reserve the right to contact you for (additional) shipping charges incurred above the automated charge at checkout - even if you show as qualifying for free shipping.  

Some products have been identified and must be shipped at an additional cost due to their weight and/or size. Many of these have their own shipping costs associated with them. This shipping rate will be either be seen upon checkout or discussed in the item’s description.

Our wide variety of products means that not all products that may need additional shipping costs have been identified. We reserve the right to request additional shipping charges.

Can I Place my Order by Phone?

Why certainly! Call us at 1-877-745-6445 (locally 403-253-4419) and we will be happy to take your order over the phone.

Can I have my order sent Xpresspost or Priority?

Yes. However, both Xpresspost and Priority cost a significant amount more to ship, so there will be an additional shipping charge to you for these services. Please be aware that sometimes the delivery date for Xpresspost is the same or only 1 day sooner than Expedited and it may not be worth paying for this service. 

ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS

Along Came Quilting has been an active advocate for responsible waste management since our inception in 2002.  The 3 R's: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle are practiced every day in the shop.  Recycling stations are throughout the store for easy staff use and gathered regularly to be disposed in our recycling bin.  Food waste is gathered and added to the city's compost program.  And items no longer useful to the business are donated to charity or offered to our customers.  Yes, very little ends up in the "garbage".

This extends to our shipping packaging.  Don't be surprised when you receive your order in a clean, gently used box, nestled among packaging garnered from shipments we ourselves have received.  In all instances, we ensure your items will be nicely bagged (if not prepackaged) and secured.    

LOST PARCELS

We understand that not receiving your order is very upsetting. Be assured that Canada Post provides excellent, reliable service 99.9% of the time. However, during busy periods such as the holiday season or during the COVID-19 pandemic, Canada Post struggles with the volumes. Packages take longer to arrive and more inconsistencies with reliability begin to show. Canada Post often suspends guaranteed delivery dates during these times, as they cannot keep up. This is outside of our control.

If your order was sent via letter mail, Along Came Quilting is not responsible for loss. There is no tracking with this service, so Canada Post cannot investigate to find where the item is. It may show up much later than expected.

If your order was sent using a tracking number (such as Expedited Parcel or Tracked Packet), Along Came Quilting will investigate with Canada Post or the courier as to the package's whereabouts.

If Canada Post confirms the package as lost, you will be refunded for your order up to the insurance value selected when you placed your order.

If Canada Post's tracking records shows the parcel as having been delivered, Along Came Quilting will not be providing any reimbursement on the order. Stolen or lost parcels are not covered if Canada Post or any other delivery service deems them as “Delivered”.

Regarding Addresses

We use the address provided when the order is placed as our shipping address. Many times, customers in apartment or multi-dwelling complexes omit their specific unit number, and the item will not be delivered. Other times, customers move and do not have their mail forwarded by Canada Post. It is the customer’s responsibility to provide a full, correct deliverable address on their order. Should the item not be delivered correctly or not at all due to an incorrect or incomplete address, no refund will be provided on the order.

If the order is returned to our store by Canada Post, we will contact you to check on the address given. Additional shipping charges will be required for us to resend this package to you.  

DAMAGED PARCELS

Now this is distressing! Please take clear, large photos of the packaging and the items immediately upon receipt. Please retain all packaging. Email the photos to us at askus@alongcamequilting.com. It is the responsibility of the delivery service used to cover costs, and we will contact both you and them for resolution of the matter.

Please note that without evidence of packaging damage, the carrier may not cover damages and recourse cannot be taken.  Further, without the packaging, we may not be able to have the damaged items returned to us should we request them to be.  It is your responsibility to keep all boxes, packing materials, plastic wraps, etc. until the matter is settled. 

Without evidence and the packaging to return items, we cannot guarantee replacement or refund for damaged goods.   

ERRORS IN THE ORDER

Nobody likes mistakes! Please contact us immediately at askus@alongcamequilting.com with a number you can be reached at in the daytime, or phone us directly toll-free at 1-877-745-6445 (locally 403-253-4419). 

IN-STORE PICKUP

You can skip the shipping fees with free local pickup at our 6432-1A St SW, Calgary location. After placing your order and selecting local pickup at checkout, your order will be prepared and ready for pick up within 2 to 4 business days. Orders for curbside/in-store pickups do not receive priority fulfillment over mail orders.

Watch for our email stating "Your order is ready for pickup".  Once you receive it, you can come by.  Please do not come before the email is received that the order is ready for pickup. We are no longer phoning when the order is ready.

Pickup is available during our store hours:

Mon.-Fri.: 10 am – 5 pm
Sat-Sun: 10 am – 4 pm

If you would like curbside pickup, please call the store when you arrive in the parking lot (not before arrival), and we will then meet you at the door with your package.
