Down to Earth by Tula Pink

Shopping in Canada for the Down to Earth fabric collection from Tula Pink for FreeSpirit is easy in the Along Came Quilting online store!

A few words from Tula about the collection...

A girl likes to have options and that is exactly what this collection of prints is all about. My original Dots (Poms) and (Tent) Stripes have been around for over a decade and I thought it was time to take a new look at those incredibly useful prints. The question that I asked myself is how to make them more versatile than they previously were. In the past I have used used these prints exhaustively in my quilts and bags but sometimes even if it was the perfect color I would have liked it better if it was larger and bolder or smaller and more textural. I decided to put these options all in one print. These new True Colors, Sticks and Stones, are designed with 4 sizes of each stripe and dot from selvage to selvage. These different sizes can be used together to create dimension or split up base on the size and need of the patch I am cutting. A small piece can be cut from the smaller stripe or dot and a larger piece can be pulled form the larger sections.

For Down to Earth I wanted to create a collection of prints that worked in a similar way. Most of the prints are designed from selvage to selvage. The hero print is a tall growing vine with different little vignettes that travel from one end to the other. This print can be cut into smaller pieces are used whole as an amazing border. Lady bugs and mushroom, tiny bees and giant moths add more textures and illustrations to fill in this little garden of delights. Use these two collections separately or combine them for a full spectrum of color and nature!

This class consists of the following dates:

Sunday, October 11, 2026: 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
Sunday, October 18, 2026: 10:30 am - 1:30 pm
Sunday, November 1, 2026: 10 am - 4 pm
Sunday, November 15, 2026: 10 am - 4 pm

Have you ever seen a picture you thought would make an amazing quilted wall hanging? This workshop will introduce techniques to transform a photograph or illustration of your choice into a pattern to create a wall hanging. The realistic results are completed using a fusible applique method. You don't need drawing skills; this class will make it easy for you to transfer an image into a work of art.

About the Teacher

Roxanne Nelson has wowed quilters across North America with her gorgeous pictorial quilts of parrots, other feathered friends, and most recently tigers! Her quilts have been juried into Quilt Canada, Houston International Quilt Show, Road to California, Pacific West Quilt Show, NQA Show, and the Calgary Stampede. Roxanne loves to share her passion for colour and fabric art with students and help them interpret photographs and illustrations into their own creative wall hangings.

Important Information

Participants can register by paying in full at the store or via telephone with a credit card (Visa or Mastercard). There is no online registration.

For our classes you will require your own sewing machine - which should be in good working order - and your own sewing supplies and tools. In our classroom we have ironing boards and irons which are shared with other students. A supply list will be available for your class which will outline the supplies, fabric requirements, and any pre-cutting needed. Please ensure you pick this supply list up in plenty of time to prepare for your first class.

Click to read our Class Registration/Cancellation Policy before registering.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0489/5686/6711/files/Come-On-In-The-Water_s-Fine-website_0fc1265b-b041-4502-9bc7-08fe8d790e61.jpg?v=1698623748
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0489/5686/6711/collections/desktop-slide-down-to-earth-sticks-and-stones-tula-pink.jpg?v=1790983364
