Their customer service has beaten anything I have ever experienced. I purchased a couple of items from them and one was faulty. Regardless of the manufacturer’s warranty they replaced the item. I have also made numerous online orders since moving away and the service, speed and prices are always the best around. If I call I can get curb side pickup the same day. Along Came Quilting has gotten me through the pandemic and I am very grateful for all of the staff there.

Linda Goh owns a well run business. I've admired her throughout the pandemic for her proactiveness in keeping her customers up to date on the changing situations. The store is bright and clean with a lovely selection of high quality quilting fabrics. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Her prices are fair and in many cases less than competitors in the city. Her online website is attractive, easy to navigate and orders are completed quickly. I found Along Came Quilting early in Covid when looking for fabric and supplies for masks. You could only shop online. It was one of the few local shops that had a good online website (fortunately many have improved their sites during Covid and I look for products often before I buy locally and internationally). This shop is my go-to because they are responsive online and in person. Always willing to help with a project, order online for a specific item or explain a product. I am a regular supporter and would recommend this locally owned store.
I was putting together around 12 different colours of green batiks for my first truly modern quilt project. At first I had one staff member helping me with colour choices, & soon 2 others joined in - we had so much fun! Putting colours together for a quilt is one of my favourite parts of quilting , & the ACQ ladies made this one extra special! My quilt turned out absolutely beautiful - thank you for all your valuable input ladies.
I was in tears after a quilting disaster. I had worked on something for months and the cat had, in my mind, ruined it, but they were able to make several suggestions to completely transform it back.
Picking fabric for a double wedding ring quilt class I was signed up for there and they took about an hour with me getting the colours just right. Just when I said "I think that's ok", they said nope and found that last absolutely perfect fabric. It turned out so good that my family is already fighting over who gets it after I'm gone.
I wanted to surprise my friend for her birthday. Neither of us lives in or near Calgary but my friend was visiting there around the same time as her birthday. She always stops at Along Came Quilting. I had arranged for her to receive a gift certificate when she went to pay for her purchase.
I needed help finding border fabric. The staff were very helpful with pulling options to choose from.
I was assisted in choosing pattern and fabric for a quilt for a aging friend. The staff person gave me many ideas and choices. She was with me for over an hour. The shop is also very helpful in ordering patterns.
I decided to make a flannel rag lap quilt for a dear friend diagnosed with cancer. It was a project that a group of us were getting together to work on & create. I was struggling picking out fabrics on my own. One of the wonderful staff helped & spent a lot of time & care making suggestions & putting combinations together. She even picked out a perfect variegated thread! She was able to combine fabrics that were bright, went so well together & were so perfect! I could never have done it on my own! She was pivotal in helping create what turned out to be an incredibly beautiful & meaningful gift that my friend brings with her to every chemo appointment!
I took a great fpp beginner class there.
During the height of covid (when the shop was closed for in person shopping, I desperately needed more of a fabric I already had to finish a time sensitive project. I could not determine which exact fabric I had through their online store. I brought a swatch and held it up to the window and the staff brought the 3 grunge fabrics it could have been to the window until we were able to find the right match. It took them so much more time and many trips back and forth but I was so deeply grateful for the care and kindness helping me with my covid-exacerbated dilemma.
I had looked all over the city for unicorn fabric. The staff helped me find a beautiful horse material some lovely matching fabric etc. It turned out beautiful and my granddaughter was thrilled.
I was making a quilt without a design, they helped me figure out tricks for the design and saved me so much time and probably lots of frustration if I was to have to figure it out on my own. I didn’t even really ask, I just mentioned that I had to figure out the design and they jumped right in to help.
Prior to the pandemic, Linda allowed me to teach other quilters. We chose patterns from Quiltworx… The classes were a lot of fun and we held multiple sessions.

Was looking for fabric selections when trying to make face masks in 2020 and visited the store via the parking lot as they were not allowing clients in the actual store. Through chatting with the staff they were able to direct me to batiks, and were able to help me select fabric without actually stepping into the store. Worked out great.
I incorrectly cut fabric for a class, panic mode set in, Kim the teacher worked out how to use cut fabric, so on a large project I only had to buy a minimal amount of extra fabric. Sigh of relief😊
Special tables set up so you can unhurriedly choose a quilt and spread out. Every so often a friendly face came by and asked if help needed to find a fabric or choose one. Very homey atmosphere!!

i went to look for the perfect fabric for a backing for a gift quilt. after auditioning and rejecting several, I was getting discouraged. the staff was right there to help me, and soon found just the right fabric. It was great! and the quilt recipient was delighted!

Drove all the way from BC and managed to get to the shop before closing time. Staff helped with fabric selection and everyone got to go home on time!
Not one really stands out other than the friendly interactions with the staff.
My friend and I had selected about 6 bolts of fabric for the backing of a special quilt and we thought we had it just right but when we asked the opinion of the staff at the cutting table - she disappeared for a short while and returned with a bolt that was 'perfect' which gives you that soo good feeling and makes you come back for more!
As a brand new quilter the staff helped me choose fabrics and encouraged me as I learned.
I have learned so much from all the classes I have taken there. And the friendships made are lifelong.
I was having trouble piecing and lining up a particular busy quilt block. After picking it apart several times because it wouldn’t line up I brought it with me and asked what I was doing wrong. Two of the ladies took the time to look it over, discuss it and fuss until I be of them had an “AHA!” moment. It turned out it was a fairly simple fix and I left feeling renewed and confident I could finish it.
The staff is most helpful and cheerful.
I was unable to find a template for a quilt I was working on, turns out it wasn’t available in Canada. The girls at Along came quilting helped me make my own template. They literally saved the quilt!
Never been in shop - shopped by phone. First time quilter and they helped me so much, they picked out the fabric for me. They sent me pictures of the groups of fabric they picked out. When I finished the quilt I sent them a picture and they put it on Instagram. So very helpful.
I was going to hand quilt for the first time. Staff directed me to the thread I needed and also some hints about hand quilting. Sure appreciated the help.
My first visit I saw fabrics and designers I hadn't seen in other shops- and even through the last two years they were careful with protocols whilst being friendly. Great window displays too!
I found a fabric I had been looking for and had not been able to find elsewhere.
I needed some very special colour for my quilt. So much time was spent with me I will be sure to go back often.
Helpful with fabric choices for one of my quilts. Needed neutrals that all play together.
Trying to find the special narrow ruler for centering, and then marking the cutting lines for Half Square Triangles. I had a quick look and couldn't find this 15" ruler. One of the staff came over and she helped locate the ruler (being restocked) and then asked if I needed any tips about using the ruler. We had such a great chat. It is one of my favorite tools through that experience.
Yesterday I was helped by a staff member who was so supportive in the colour of fabric I had chosen. The quilt I am making is going to my brother in Australia. I chose a fun light grey maple leaf for the backing. We thought it was so fun.
My sister in law was recovering from cancer and wanting to make a quilt. I brought her to the shop and Kim took her under her wing, helping her verbalize her vision and select the fabrics she needed to create it. She had been having a low day but left that shop feeling like she could conquer her fear of starting her project. She is now ready for borders and quilting. I believe Kim’s calm methodical and capable assistance helped her achieve her vision and gave her the confidence to start. Making that quilt became a part of her healing ❤️🩹 journey! Thank you Kim!
Unfortunately no.
I had run out of a certain fabric and couldn’t find it anywhere. I asked one of the employees if they knew where I could find more. She looked it up in her store’s data base and it was in their storage area. Presto problem solved.😁
There are many specials moments but helping me find the perfect fabric to finish a quilt during the restrictions of the pandemic will always remain with me.
During Covid-19 restrictions while waiting line for the store I started up a onversation with a customer from BC. I still stay in contact with her regarding quilting. Am am from Edmonton she is from around Balfour BC. Quilting bring us all together.
Kim must have spent about a hour and a half helping me find the perfect backing, batting and fabric requirements for my completed hand appliquéd quilt top that is to involve hand quilting. She was very knowledgeable and offered great advice.
There are so many exceptional moments………….especially before and after this awful pandemic………..they generously let us (ie. Ujamaa Grandmas) use their classroom once a month ( pre Covid ) to sew our items for our charity sale, which also allows us to peruse their wonderful selection of fabrics; they have a also helped with donations to our charity; and there was a day during this awful pandemic where they spent considerable time helping me personally, to select fabrics for a beautiful oriental styled quilt for my grandson & his lovely lady. They are such kind, fun, beautiful, and enthusiastic people with such a wonderful selection of delicious choices of fabrics and accessories.
No special moment - new to store so just impressed with stock and staff.
I had a big operation that did not leave me feeling so great, so I was very down and had no motivation. I was taken for a treat toAlong Came Quilting, just to look at fabrics. I was there for a while and they managed to have me laughing. I even wanted to try to start a small quilt and they helped me pick out fabrics. From this I slowly started to get back into life and quilting. I am very thankful to the staff at Along Came Quilting.
I recently needed to 'run in' to the shop for some thread to complete a project. While she was helping me, and without realizing it, Kim provided a brief tutorial on match thread weight with needle size. I learn something new on most of my visits to the store.
A quilting friend got sick and ended up in hospice. All who knew her and sewed decided to do a weekend of sewing at the store - sewing Kevyn‘s unfinished quilts. This included some folks who worked at the store, family and friends. Kevyn was able to see her favourite projects done before she passed.
Very helpful when choosing fabrics on line!
Yes, August 2020, while hiding from covid at our summer cottage, I received a phone call from Linda, the owner. She was responding to an email I had sent the shop requesting a question regarding the ordering of 2 kits I was interested in. It was after hours, but we proceeded to chat for at least 1/2 hour. I'm not sure she knew who exactly she was talking to, but it warmed my heart in those early pandemic days.
I have had many special moments and memories at this shop.
Years ago I was taking a class to do a Quiltworx quilt. I went in first thing in the morning to select fabric. The owner Linda sat with me and the pattern to work out the fabric requirements. Then worked with me to choose fabric. Sh worked with me from 10 until 3. The patience and willingness to do that has not been forgotten. The quilt turned out great and my dad loves it.

I ordered some fabric online for my grand daughters quilt and had to reorder a different one and they were so good about making sure I got exactly what I needed.

I love the fact they have all of their products online, It made it really wonderful to order things during the pandemic because it was like I could walk around the store but still be safe.
I went to a "sewing bee" and got so much done that weekend. We all went out for a dinner at a local Italian restaurant, and I made some incredible friends.
The shop is sew inviting! The first time I went in I was in awe at all the qullt samples hung through out the shop!! Friendly staff too!
When I was there I don’t know which color I will choose so one staff gathered all her fellow staff and asked their opinion and I asked them to make a vote and all of us agreed with one color and it’s so fabulous the outcome of the quilt.

Yes I needed 24”x6 ruler and I don’t know how but they got it to me the next day. That was pretty special.
Lots of special moments at the shop. I had made a Pineapple Quilt and I had so many compliments from the staff.
I always have a special moment. I get great advice and input when I need it. And no matter what we always get to share some laughs. I love this store. Sometimes I drive all the way across the city just to pick up something like a package a new needles just so I can say hi!! I only love 5 minutes away from another store where I can get all kinds of needles lol.
I was having difficulty choosing colours for a quilt. The sales staff showed me some wonderful choices and combinations I would never had considered.
