Along Came Quilting has the best people working, they are knowledgeable, kind, patient, and talented. They are always willing to give advice if asked, they always make me feel like I am a valued customer, even if I don’t buy anything at that moment in time. Linda Goh the owner always brings in amazing teachers for the classes that are offered. They have an amazing selection of fabric. It is so pleasant to shop there, it is open and airy and very well stocked. If an item is not available they will take the time to look through catalogs and order it for me. I have never had a bad experience in this store. I will confess that I go in there when I’m having a bad day, just to browse, and de - stress, the staff are very kind and just tell me to enjoy. I can’t say enjoy good things about Along Came Quilting.

This is a very large store so their material selection alone is outstanding. The layout is intuitive which makes it easier to find what I am seeking. The staff have always been more than accommodating, whether it be questions on how to or assistance with color selection.

The customer is treated like a Queen, and the staff is knowledgeable about both quilting and their store inventory and what can be ordered or done for the customer. Also, their fabrics are great! And you can always count on them to be right at the crest of the wave where new designers, fabrics, patterns and techniques come into play. It doesn’t matter whether you are in the store or on the phone- the staff is there to help you!

Their collective expertise on fabrics and quilting knowledge never fails to enhance the experience of shopping there! My projects are always elevated by their suggestions. I have had so many special moments.
I was making a collage quilt and needed a selection of fabric for this project, as it was my first time ever in making a collage I had no clue what to buy, Kim, accompanied me to the right fabrics, she spent an hour and a half of her precious time helping me as she could see that I was very stressed and out of my depth and comfort zone. She could have pointed me in the right direction and ignored me, but she went the extra several miles.
I was making a quilt for my best friend and needed the right fabric for borders and for backing, once again I had someone walk around the store with me and help me pick the absolutely perfect fabric.

I am always finding new notions or books online and whenever I ask Linda if she can get it for me the answer is usually yes, she places the order and lets me know when it comes in. They are fabulous!
I would have to say my special moment there was the day I went with my husband, and we were looking for a quilt kit that he could build, and the ladies were so awesome and helpful. They showed my husband a really awesome quilt kit that they had that he could build, and they gave him a few pointers. That’s something that I really have to push on because not a lot of men quilt, and these ladies were very excited that he had taken up an interest, they made him feel like it was just an every day thing gave him the confidence to move forward with what he wanted to do.
Very personable shopkeeper helped me find the fabric I needed for my project. Took the time to help when help was needed.
When I first went in after they expanded. I wanted to stay there all day!, I am new to quilting, signed up for a mosaic course, the staff spent an hour helping me select all the material and notions I required. The selection of material alone overwhelmed me. Which is to say was amazing and how they had it laid out made it easy to find the colors I was looking for. Another staff member overheard us and joined j the conversation by showing me her mosaic project pictures. She then answered a number of questions for me. Before I sign off I have to mention this was a busy Saturday.
I was bored and needed inspiration for my next quilt. Spoke to one of their staff. A few days later, I got a call suggesting I try One Block Wonder. That afternoon, we got together to discuss what fabrics from my stash night work.
I have a special place in my heart for this wonderful store because I took my beginning quilt class at Along Came Quilting when I was on my breast cancer journey in 2012. I made many new friends and learned basic quilting skills from a stellar instructor! As a true quilter, I browse and shop at all Calgary guilt stores but Along Came Quilting is #1. The management and staff are knowledgeable, friendly and most helpful.
Asked to make a quilt with green as the theme. Not a green person but a staff member and I had great fun rolling around the trolly through the store, grabbing and auditioning colors. Most fun I have had picking out fabric. Felt like I was out with a friend.
I have difficulty standing for any length of time causing much pain, and needed some fabric for borders for my quilt, the staff helping me sat me down at the cutting table and brought fabric to me and helped me with my selection. Her compassion went miles beyond her job expectations and made me feel seen!
Linda searched and found a pattern for me which was very hard to find which she did not have in her store.
Ordering online, I receive my purchases extremely quickly AND within each package is a hand written note from staff at Along Came Quilting saying, "thank you for your purchase". The hand written note brings such joy.
Honestly I’ve never been in person! But I don’t have to because it’s as tho the store is right in my house! I love the website- I can always find what I want (and more). The quick turn around and delivery of my order makes it feel like Christmas morning. I do appreciate the personally written message and sometimes a little thank you gift. Simple a great shop with attention to detail makes the difference.
Recently, I decided to make my niece, who is getting married in July this year, a set of patch-abilities wallhangings for her home. I had previously ordered for hangers for these in person from Along Came Quilting. When the hangers came in I went down to pick them up and they were, of course, delightful. After I got home I decided I should probably make a few more hangings to round out the year for my niece. But I would have to get more hangers! I went online to see what I could find, but all the stores that had what I wanted were in the US, and I would have to pay customs and shipping on top of the cost. So I decided to call Along Came Quilting again to see what they would suggest. I got on the phone with Betty, and we spent a delightful half hour going through the order book with her describing the hangers to me, and me choosing. Her descriptions were so great that I didn’t have any problem making a decision! I feel confident that the hangers we chose to order will be exactly what I want! And the price will be just right. I can hardly wait to get them. What service!

Went to ACQ yesterday looking for a project bag for my 16.5 x 16.5 blocks. I also told the staff member that I was having a bad day. We couldn't find anything on the floor, so she said that she would like in the back cause she was sure she found something. She found a perfect 18 x 20 project bag and as I was leaving, she wished me a better day. Just made me feel cared for. Plus Linda (owner) always remembers my name no matter how long it's been since I was last there.

I once walked up to a person in the shop to ask a question. She cheerfully answered me. When I asked my next question, she told me, “Oh. Sorry. I don’t work here. You’ll have to ask a staff member.” The entire shop had a good giggle.
I was looking at a pattern to buy to make my own zipper pouches when a staff member recommended the pattern. She had a friend make them and lived the different sizes you could make. It's nice to know someone local liked the pattern.

I had bought a pattern somewhere else and I lost the instructions. I went back to the store and they said, “We don’t have the pattern or instructions so can’t help.” No effort was given.

I was taking a workshop and would receive the panel there that I was free motion quilting. The staff member searched in the panel in store and on line until she found it and I was able to purchase what I needed.
Like I said above the staff are so very helpful in all respects. I don't walk well as I have had surgery on both legs & waiting for surgery on my back. I use a cane so they are always there with a chair and/or a hand to help with bolts of fabric. This help allows me to keep quilting.

Found the pattern I was looking for
Was looking for the perfect fabric to make my quilt pop and got some amazing help from staff.
I was making a quilt for a friend who found a feature fabric and a pattern she liked. However, the pattern was for a double and I needed to make a queen size. Kim helped to calculate the additional fabric I needed and also helped grabbing fabric to go with the main fabric. I had the right amount of fabric to complete the quilt and my friend loved it. Not to mention I had a great time picking out the fabric and learning how to calculate fabric when increasing the size of the project
