Description

  • This thread is extremely fine and works beautifully for both hand and machine applique.
  • Perfect for micro-quilting on heirloom quilts.  Recommended by free-motion expert, Diane Gaudynski.
  • Used by fishermen to make flies!
  • Due to its reflective nature, an exact match to your fabric is not as necessary as a good match to the value of the fabric.  It will often take on the colour tones of your fabric, and by matching the value it blends in and disappears
  • 100 wt, 200 m spool
  • YLI.

"I've used this thread for straight stitching of fusible raw-edge applique and find it perfect for the job.  It allows me to stitch the design down with tight turns and corners, without a build-up of thread that happens in a heavier weight thread. It is perfect for designs by McKenna Ryan of Pine Needles as many of the applique pieces are very tiny.

If I want the edges of the fusible applique covered, I will use a very small narrow zig-zag with this thread (but not so tight that it becomes a satin stitch).

In all cases, I match the bobbin thread to the top thread and have no problems with tension.  Even using the zig-zag stitch, I find I do not need a stabilizer as there is no tunneling.  I find this thread much easier to use than invisible thread.

My needle of choice for using this thread when machine appliqueing is either a 60 (best size, but for experienced persons) or 70 (when you are just learning) microtex (sharp) needle.
