Description

  • Early summer travellers find Maritime roadsides awash with breath-taking colour as field after field burst into a riot of purples, pinks and blues.
  • This variety is not the one you see in garden centres, which is European in origin. Lupinus Polyphyllus is, rather, a native to the Pacific northwest.
  • My consulting botanist suggests it may have been introduced to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, by the son-in-law of Alexander Graham Bell who is known to have travelled to the west coast. No record of them has been found before this time.
  • It is no wonder these Lupins have taken to the roadways of the Atlantic provinces. Not only do they love our damp, cool east-coast conditions, they literally thrive on our winter road salt which they mistake for elemental calcium.
  • 9 thread colours, 14 count Aida recommended.
  • Finished stitch area approximately 7 x 7 inches.
  • Chart size 85 x 79 stitches.
  • A counted cross stitch chart from Foxberry Cottage Crafts.
  • Made in Canada.
