September 25, 2025:  CUPW declared a country-wide strike effective immediately.  Parcels in the Canada Post system will remain there until delivery resumes.  There is nothing we can do about any parcels in the system.  They cannot be retrieved.

We can now only ship by courier.

If you have only a PO Box and no courier delivery, then we cannot ship to you.  However, let us know if you would like the order processed and held for when postal shipping resumes.

Many people are not aware that a shipment by a courier is actually delivered by Canada Post on the "final leg" of the journey. Unfortunately, we cannot differentiate which addresses couriers deliver to directly.   Please provide us with an address that a courier company delivers to.  Further information can be found in the FAQ's below.

Please know that courier costs can be substantially higher than parcels by post, and we may need additional funds for shipping.  In these instances, we would contact you.

August 24, 2025:  We continue to ship in Canada mostly with couriers.  However, for those packages that would cost the customer more for shipping via courier we will ship with Canada Post.  Also addresses where they are best or only suited for Canada Post delivery, we will ship via Canada Post.  Any customer requesting letter mail shipping can only have this service with Canada Post.

We have discontinued shipping to the USA due to the elimination of the de minimis and the lack of systems in place at this time to obtain and ensure duties are paid before the parcel enters the USA.  Canada Post is working on a system to address this with US-bound shipments, and we hope to reinstate US shipping in the future.

June 26, 2025:  Canada Post is upgrading their systems with an anticipated live date of July 2nd.  Occasional outages are occurring.  We are still shipping with couriers for many of our orders, but those that need to ship via Canada Post may have delays as their system is occasionally down.

June 17, 2025:  The CUPW membership is being presented with a vote on Canada Post's final offer.  While we await the outcome of this, we are shipping with couriers where we can and with Canada Post for PO Boxes and to remote areas where courier costs are prohibitive.  We thank you for your support and orders while we navigate the shipping highway!

May 27, 2025:  While Canada Post is still delivering mail, the impasse continues.  We are not using Canada Post at this time due to the risk that parcels may get stuck in the system should a strike ensue.

Courier rates have gone up since the last Canada Post shutdown of November 2024.  The costs to send parcels are often much, much higher than the fees we are charging at checkout.  This is particularly so for packages going to Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.  Small packages are easily costing well over $30 to ship.

We cannot absorb these increased shipping costs.  Therefore, if the cost of shipping the parcel to you is higher, we will contact you for payment of additional shipping fees.

Note that orders that qualify for our $25 of free shipping allowance may also need to pay for the extra costs of shipping and we will contact you for payment of them.

May 19, 2025:  CUPW has issued strike notice to Canada Post -  our usual shipping carrier - effective May 23rd.  Last week we started shipping parcels via couriers and will be continuing to do so throughout this labour dispute.

So how are we continuing with our online order business and the delivery of your orders?  Please read below:

Check out our FAQ's below:

Can I still order with you?

Yes, you can place your order as usual on our website.

I am local.  Can I pick up my order?

Absolutely, as always, there is a "Pickup in store" option under Delivery when you proceed to the Checkout page.  Just click it and all the shipping costs disappear.

I am local, but want it my order delivered.  Do I need to do anything different?

No, just place your order as usual with "Ship" under Delivery, and we will arrange for delivery to your street address.  Ignore the reference to "expedited parcel (a postal term)" at checkout.

I live out of town and have a street address.  How do I get delivery?

Place your order as usual, and we will arrange for courier delivery to your street address.  Ignore the reference to "expedited parcel (a postal term)" at checkout.

I live out of town and have a P.O. Box address.  How do I get delivery?

Do you have a street address that you know couriers deliver to?  If so, please use that address, and we'll have your parcel couriered to you.  Alternatively, do you have a friend with a residential street address or a work street address that couriers deliver to and can be used?

Box numbers cannot be delivered to by a courier as they don't have the keys to your box.

It is very important that we have an address that couriers can deliver to.  If you live in a rural location where the "last leg" of the journey to you is only served by Canada Post, we will not know this.  When we book courier shipments, the courier companies don't identify which addresses require Canada Post "last leg" delivery.  During the last strike in November 2024, there were shipments returned to us by the couriers as they wouldn't deliver to the rural address location given - even though they accepted the shipment.  We are then charged for the return of the shipment to us in addition to the initial charge to send it.

If you live in a rural location, please watch for our emails or answer our calls as we may need to confirm with you the address to use.

I live in the USA.  How do I get delivery?

Do you have a street address that couriers can deliver to?  If so, please use that address and we'll have your parcel couriered to you.  Alternatively, do you have a friend with a residential street address or a work street address that can be used?

While the de minimis exemption of $800 has not been eliminated for shipments from Canada, items may still be subject to duties, tariffs, and brokering fees which will be requested by the courier for you to pay before release.  We are not responsible for these fees.

I live in a country other than Canada or the USA.  How do I get delivery?

We now only ship to Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.

Any brokering, duties, tariffs, or taxes will be your responsibility.  We cannot ascertain what these charges may be.  Please check with your local authorities for duties, tariffs, and taxes on imported goods.

Will there be an increased cost for courier or delivery?

We are leaving our flat shipping rates the same.  If the flat rate does not cover the cost for us to have your package couriered, we will contact you with a request for additional shipping funds.  Please watch your email for communication from us.

What courier will you be using?

That all depends on what courier company is the least expensive.  If you have a preference of couriers, please let us know when you place your order.  You may indicate this in the Orders Instructions when viewing your cart as shown below.  Don't forget to click the Save button to save your comments.

What about letter mail shipping?

We're very sorry, but only Canada Post delivers with letter mail rates.  We cannot ship letter mail when they are on nation-wide strike.

What about insurance?

Shipments will be fully insured for the contents' value.  A signature for delivery is required.

Can I order and have you hold the order to ship later with Canada Post?

Certainly, we can do this.  Please let us know when you place your order.  You may indicate this in the Orders Instructions when viewing your cart as shown below.  Don't forget to click the Save button to save your comments.

How long will it take for me to receive my package?

Not to brag or anything, but we are pretty fast on our part of things.  But once it is out our doors, we have no control.  We will provide you with a tracking number that can be followed for delivery updates and progress.  While couriers are generally the same or faster than Canada Post, they will likely become bogged down with volume and their delivery times will be slowed as occurred last November.  Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to make the parcel move faster.  Nor can we obtain a status update on it or retrieve it for you.

I have a question.  How do I contact you?

Email us at askus@alongcamequilting.com or call us toll-free at 1-877-745-6445Locals can call us at 403-253-4419.
